Are Social Media And SEO Turning All Of Us Into Sheep?

Social media sheep

Social media sheep

Are Google, Facebook and other social media platforms turning us into sheep and making us easier targets for advertisers?

In this episode of the New Social SEO Podcast I talk with Dino Dogan of DIYBlogger.net and Triberr about how the continual merger of social media and SEO are actually limiting the amount of information you have access to.

This conversation is a follow up to a recent post where we discussed how Klout doesn’t care about you as a blogger and how social media networks actually make money.

Take a listen to Dino and I discussing:

  • Personalization reducing the amount of information you have access to
  • How the more information you give a social network the better they can sell you, and sell to you
  • How to counteract your becoming one of the sheeple
  • And oh so much more…

Scott And Rob Podcast #3

Podcast

PodcastScott and I are so freaking busy each that we’ve decided to move to a weekly podcast. This is the first of those, and is around 30 minutes.

Now here’s why you want to spend your next 30 minutes with us.

Last time Scott discussed:

  • His niche real estate site, the major content updates he did, and how he was going to drive more PPC (pay per click) traffic to it along with emailing his lists that he’s never emailed

.. and I talked about:

  • How I was creating calls to action for each of my blog posts to get people to sign up for my IM Training HQ membership site (for free) to get additional content

Today Scott updates us with:

  • How he soaked his PPC budget in a day, and then fixed it
  • Stats on his email marketing to two lists he’s never emailed before
  • What he’s now going to do with increased, targeted traffic, and more conversions
  • And more

… and I get real in-depth about:

  • Conversion rates from traffic sources for IM Training HQ
  • How I’m using PostRank and Clicky to create additional free content to create more calls to action (CTAs)
  • Creating CTAs that your audience will respond to
  • And much more

The No Name Podcast That’s All About Action

Podcast

Podcast iconSo Scott and I failed a bit with a 50-minute introductory podcast. Let me remedy that with round 2.

In this podcast episode on the podcast that has yet to be named, Scott and I give an update on the big items we did the day before, how it fits into our strategies, and how we’re measuring success.

Also Scott lays out in the first few minutes why you should listen to this podcast. Long story short is Scott and I are all about execution. We’re doing it for ourselves and our clients.

We have reasons for everything we do, and in the podcast we are peeling back the curtain even further than we do on our sites. This podcast is about to become a daily thing, and as soon as we have a name (and ideas are appreciated), we’ll be putting it into iTunes.

Today’s episode is around 17 minutes, so much shorter than yesterday.

Take a listen and if you have any questions for Scott and I, please let me know and we can answer it for you on the show.

UPDATE WITH DETAILS

Scott explained what’s going on in this podcast better than I, so I’m taking the awesome explanation for his post (which you can read right here) and putting it here.

Scott starts off by giving a quick background on what you can expect in our show and what we will be talking about in future versions. Then we cover…

Strategy of a Video Landing Page

I share with you my strategy on some of my niche websites. I go into detail around a particular video strategy I’m currently rolling out. From there we discuss why this is a good strategy and what/how I’m going to measure results.

I also talk about why I feels this is a good move and why I feels video is by far the best way to communicate on the web.

Rework of a Product

Then Scott shares with you a product he has in the real estate market. This product has been on auto-pilot for a while now but in looking at stats and traffic he saw an opportunity.

Scott then shares with you the strategy of what he did, why he decided to create a 5+ hour recording and what he’s going to do after he releases that.

Essentially he’s reworking the offer, updating the affiliate program, and sending more paid traffic to get data quicker. He might even continue that traffic but he’s not sure.

And here’s the audio for ya:

Coffee - Sleep When You're Dead

Coffee - Sleep When You're DeadBefore my man Darren Monroe calls me out in public for posting more than 3 times this week, let me say I’ll be posting more than 3 times this week. I was trying to keep to a Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday schedule, but asskickery doesn’t work to a schedule, and neither do I!

So let the good times roll!

This post is an introduction to a new podcast with me and my excellent friend Scott Scanlon on You Brand, Inc., a digital marketing agency. Scott and I met at the first Startup Weekend Twin Cities, hit it off, and have been talking and working together since. I can remember it as if it were yesterday…

Ok no I can’t. Anything past two weeks is a blur. Scott and I talk on a more than weekly basis and share the latest of what we’re working on, and the results we’re getting. During our last conversation Scott suggested we turn our conversations into a podcast, so we did.

Yay Scott!

So embedded below for your listening pleasure is the first of many podcasts to come. But before you dig in for the next 50 minutes (Mavis and Brankica I double checked the length, just for you two), let me give a little intro to what we cover.

After we lay the foundation of who Scott and I are, what we do and who we do it for, and some ancient history, we get to the meat. In this episode we cover a ton of subjects from the latest Google updates to Internet Tax Laws to why so many people fail horribly at online business, and more. There is a good chunk of actionable info in the podcast, so listen to everything!

So why should you listen to our podcast whenever we publish them, which may or many not be on a very regular basis? Let me put it this way.

You know me. You know I don’t fuck around and waste your time with bullshit. You know I’m open with what I’m doing and the results I’m getting. Scott and I both do that on the podcast, and take it even deeper my friends. This is asskickery manifest. Accept no substitutes!

So if you would like to see just how far the rabbit hole goes, and discover how to seriously make it online, Scott and I can help you do that.

Take a listen and please let me know your thoughts and feedback in the comments below.

See you there!
